Endometriosis being a disease with varied forms diagnosis is complex and therefore requires medical care by experienced physicians who know which medical examinations are beneficial and which treatments are best-suited to these varied forms.
Today we know that approximately 35% of women with endometriosis will have fertility issues. That is why our endometriosis centre in Marseille will perform a fertility evaluation on our patients hoping to get pregnant, and guide and accompany them through the assisted reproductive technologies (in vitro fertilization, insemination, ovarian stimulation).
A medical interview with a physician using a precise questionnaire often outlines a possible diagnosis of endometriosis which has then to be confirmed by clinical examinations. The stage of endometriosis will then be determined by radiology testing.
In order to provide adequate treatments, it is necessary to determine the stage of endometriosis. On the basis of thorough examinations such as ultrasound, MRI, biological markers, investigation of the digestive system, endometriosis is classified into four stages.
Treatment of endometriosis will depend on the reason for consultation (pain and/or infertility), the stage of the disease, its evolution and the patient’s wishes.
